The Minister of State for Finance Mr Remi Babalola has explained that Federal government decided to suspend tax waiver policy in order to look at some grey areas of the policy and also to determine those who geninuely deserved to benefit from the privilege . Babalola who stated this in Abuja while recieving the delegation of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) led by its president, Alhaji Bashur M. Borodo which paid him a courtesy call in his office said "we are not saying that government will not provide incentives but we are looking at the grey areas". While urging the manufacturers to continue to bear with government on the suspension of waivers, the Minister gave assurance that the present administration will continue to be responsible and responsive. He therefore solicited for the cooperation and support of the manufacturing sector to enable government make production cost affordable in the country. According to the Minister "The present government is paying serious attention to the manufacturing sector in its bid to improve the nation's economy, therefore the support and cooperation of manufacturers in the country for the present administration of President Umar Musa Yar'adua is highly necessary in order to enable the government to fast track development and broadens the pace of the economy. He also stressed that the present administration in the country would continue to place emphasis on those things that "will lead to wealth creation, poverty reduction and employment generation".
